These rattles are ceremonial tools made by traditional Shipibo craftspeople of Peru. Each rattle is hand carved with a symbolic animal or natural element, and has an excellent sharp sound and sturdy feel. The round vessel is a gourd seed from amazonian trees. In healing ceremonies, rattles are used to accompany songs with the intention to heal a patient or a group of people, or to send a prayer. The proceeds from these sales go directly back to the artisans of the jungle, to support their craft and lifestyles.
